Cipe Pineles is one of the most inspirational women to have worked in graphic design. She made major contributions to editorial design during the 1940s and 1950' and is attributed with many, "firsts" in the world of graphic design. When she became an art director at Glamour Magazine, she took her place in the history of graphic design by becoming the first woman art director for a mass-market American magazine. Pineles also was the first art director to hire fine artists for mass-market publications. Talented, assertive, and charming, Cipe Pineles will always be remembered.
